Hey there!
I am

and I'm an actor.

Let's Catch Up

Hello, hello!

Thanks for visiting my site.  I'll use this space for updates, thoughts, and maybe even to share a book I'm reading or a favorite recipe or two, so please come back when you'd like to catch up. You can always email me to let me know how you're doing; I'd love to hear from you.

Happy 2024!  I hope this year is bringing you peace, love, purpose, good health, and laughter.  Lots of laughter. We all need laughter during these stressful times.

As always, I must thank Adam Elder and Lauren English for their generous help and guidance with my online activities. Without them, my self-tapes would be non-existent.  Thanks to Adam's tutelage, I also made a ridiculous short film, which I've shared in my videos section.  I hope it makes you laugh, at least a little bit.  I'm looking forward to making more shorts, and if I ever like any of them, I'll share them with you.

If you want to see what I've done in the past decade or so, please click on my resume link below.  With every performance I strive to live up to these kind words from the late Keith Kreitman's review of The Country Club:

"Mary Lou Torre, especially, always puts in memorable performances. She is one of those rare ones who not only speaks her lines but also has the character bubble up from within her. With flashing eyes, she acts with her whole body."

So lovely of him to say.

When I'm not acting, or taping auditions, I'm taking care of my hubby and his service dog, doing volunteer work for various community and Democratic organizations, and spending time with beloved friends or working on never-ending projects. I always have so much to do and so little time - I've never understood boredom. :-)  I am currently loving reading Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver, and I just purchased a couple new plays to read - looking for new monologues!

I also recently found a short play that I love and am hoping to film.  More on that (I hope) later.

Sharing for cold, rainy days - I love mac and cheese, and I usually make it with a bechamel sauce and lots of cheese baked in the oven, but that takes a fair amount of time.  The other night I was craving mac and cheese but didn't have an hour to spare, so I experimented with Boursin, cheddar, and parmesan stirred into cooked pasta, and it's yummy, super quick, and easy peasy.  If you try it, let me know.

Ciao for now. Please stay safe and be well! xoxo
